Booster Club Transitions to “Popcorn-Parents Club”

The CMIS Booster Club was founded In 2007 by a group of three PTG parents with a vision to support the Athletic Department and thereby the student athletes of our school — from lower elementary all the up to high school.

Since its beginning, the Booster Club has contributed to CMIS in many ways; for example: providing parent volunteers for the after-school sports program, selling merchandise and concessions at athletic events, overseeing hospitality for the annual invitational basketball tournament, providing snacks and water for our athletes during tournaments, organizing assemblies to honor volunteer coaches, and working with the Athletic Director to fund specific items. From swim caps, team jerseys and banners, to track & field equipment, water coolers, trophy cabinets and benches painted with the Eagles logo, the Booster Club has “boosted” CMIS sports for many years.

As things at CMIS have changed over time, so has the Booster Club. Taking into consideration our smaller membership and scope, we have decided to focus on our most successful fund-raising activity — making and selling POPCORN. For the past 10 years, our popular “Popcorn Wednesdays” have raised thousands of baht. Just last month we gifted B100,000 to the Athletic Department, nearly all of which was raised through popcorn sales.

So we would like to announce that the Booster Club will be renamed the “Popcorn-Parents Club.” This Club is open to any parents who would like to join in supporting sports at our school by way of selling popcorn. “Popcorn Wednesdays” will continue, with bags selling at 5 and 10 baht. Our members are currently formulating volunteer roster, as well as a new popcorn “recipe” that includes ingredients containing no preservatives or MSG.
